The warehouse is modelled the way it is physically built: warehouse, zone, aisle, rack, shelf, bin. Temperature-controlled, hazardous, quarantine and high-value zones are real areas with their own rules, not a note in a comment field. The occupancy map usually finds more usable space than anyone expected.

Scanning on the way in is what stops the drift

Goods receipt checks quantity, batch, expiry and quality before anything moves. The system proposes a location from velocity, size, storage rules and occupancy; the operator confirms by scanning the bin. Confirming against the actual bin rather than the intended one is what keeps ledger and rack in agreement.

One trip through the aisles serves several orders

Orders release as waves and batch together, so a picker walks the route once. The mobile screen gives a sequenced path and every pick is scan-confirmed, which stops the wrong batch or variant reaching the packing bench. FIFO, FEFO and LIFO follow item policy, not picker judgement.

Cycle counting without a shutdown

Counting runs bin by bin on a rolling schedule while the warehouse keeps working: high-value and fast-moving locations often, slow bulk storage rarely. A quarter verifies the whole facility without a day of closure. Because the data is per bin, a variance points to a location and a process.

03Integrations

One order queue, one database

Marketplaces, your own store, distributor portals and the sales team feed a single order pool, so the warehouse works one queue rather than five. Courier APIs pull rates, push manifests and return tracking events.

The WMS shares one database with the rest of Essence ERP, so a stock movement is also an accounting event. There is no nightly synchronisation to fail and nothing to reconcile against the books.
